Doc Ricketts Opens for Lunch Nov. 12
Doc Ricketts will open for lunch starting Wednesday, November 12th. Regular hours will be Monday through Friday 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a limited all-day menu continuing until dinner service, which begins at 5:30 p.m.

Doc Ricketts Opens in North Beach
The former Purple Onion space in North Beach has officially reopened as ~DOC RICKETTS~, as of Wednesday September 3rd. As previously reported on tablehopper, the owner is Christopher Burnett of Darwin Café, and he’s done quite a number on the historic location.

Update on Doc Ricketts (Justin Deering Announced as Chef)
In January of this year, it was announced that Christopher Burnett of Darwin Cafe in SoMa is going to be opening ~DOC RICKETTS~ in the original (and historic) Purple Onion comedy club space in North Beach.
Tablehopper gets an update on Doc Ricketts, the new restaurant project going into the former Purple Onion: they now have a chef, Justin Deering (15 Romolo), and are under construction for a planned October opening. The upstairs will be the 49-seat restaurant, while the downstairs Doc's Lab will be a bar and performance space. They'll be doing barrel-aged cocktails, too. [Tablehopper]

You may recall that iconic North Beach comedy club The Purple Onion (140 Columbus Avenue) closed last fall after 60 years. Its comedy shows have moved down the street to Kells (530 Jackson Street), and today the Chron reports that Darwin Café owner Christopher Burnett has taken over the space and will transform it into a restaurant.
